I installed the most recent official versions of OpenOffice;
(OOo_3.1.1_LinuxX86-64_en-US_deb.tar.gz
I tried installing only a few packages, enough to get write to work. I increased
the number of packages, until I finally just did 'dpkg -i *deb'.

Trying to get soffice to work always gives me a
terminate called after throwing an instance of 'std::bad_alloc'
  what():  std::bad_alloc

This is the same error output I get from Ubuntu's OpenOffice 2.4 version.

I've reinstalled libgtk2.0-0 and libstdc++6 packages.
I'm running Kubuntu Hardy (8.04) on a dual-core 64 bit Intel CPU.

Obviously, since both the Ubuntu and OpenOffice packages have the same error,
the cause is in some other package used by OpenOffice.

Any ideas about where this error is happening?
