The "should be known" assumption is a bad attitude. If OpenOffice is going down
that path, it will be difficult to attract new users...
_Any_ import error should be notified to the user. There is no point in working
with incomplete (or incorrect) data.
I also disagree with your dismissal of the importance of this issue. It might
not be important from the programmer's point of view but it is extremely
important to the user!
