I save all my work to an external drive as .DOC documents. I save them and always wait for the "safe to remove" message beofre disconnecting my external drive. Since I save all my work to an external drive, I do not have any files in my backup folder. When I go to open a file, I get a warning box that says "Read Error, Error Reading File". I have now "lost" almsot half the OpenOffice Writer files on my external drive and I REALLY need to recover them.
