There are three different versions of vcredist: vcredist_x64.exe, vcredist_x86.exe and vcredist_IA64.exe. The latter has nearly 10 MB. 3. Using CustomActions in the OpenOffice.org msi database does not work in InstallExecuteSequence, because Windows Installer technique is used for vcredist files. Therefore it has to be started in InstallUISequence, like the JRE installation.
