For example, in the sentence "I love the whole בריאה and then some", when the caret is placed before the character "ב", it is also present after the space which is after the word "whole". So the positions of the carets, represented by the vertical line would be like "I love the whole |בריאה| and then some". Catch my drift? The main logic to this is that the caret really is in two places.
