With AutoInput activated (From the Tool menu, select cell contents, then ensure
that there is a tick to the left of "AutoInput"), I protected a cell:

-Right click on the cell, select 'Format Cells...'
-Select "Cell protection" tab, click on "Hide all" & "Hide when printing" check
boxes. Click OK
-From the Tools menu, select "Protect Documents," then select "Sheet"
-Enter and confirm password.

By typing the first letter of the protected cell in a different cell in the same
column (or by trial and error, typing each letter in turn), the text in the
protected cell will be displayed. On this occasion, it allowed me as the author
to bypass the cell protection, as I had forgotten the password (although I
suspect it was corrupted, since every possible password didn't work) but in
other circumstances, this would appear to be a possible security risk.

Other less significant but annoying problems with the cell protection feature is
that it affects the whole sheet: it seems to be impossible to insert cells
anywhere on the sheet and any new cells formed by deleting cells are
automatically protected. It seems as thought it would be better if individual
cells could be protected without the rest of the sheet being affected.
