After several days of successful work where I created an 88 KB file (in XLS
format for compatibility) , when I saved at the end of the day, the file size
dropped to 32 KB. The new file appears to be totally empty.  Examination with a
hex editor shows that the data is still there.  The file cannot be opened with
Excel.
