I tried on opensuse 11.1 i586 and also on opensuse 11.1 x86_64, with the same
effect:

I downloaded the tar.gz file that extracts this directory:
OOO310_m19_native_packed-2_en-US.9420

moving some images in the document, and then clicking on the table, so that the
table becomes the active element. Editing some text, then trying to make another
image the active element again. Then the OpenOffice seems to be freezing, the
mouse arrow is a small hand, and then after some seconds, it disappears. In the
shell I can see:
/usr/bin/soffice: line 134:  6011 Segmentation fault      "$sd_prog/$sd_binary" 
"$@"
The opensuse branded version of OOo 3.1.1 doesn't crash.
