So, inserting ODS or XLS gives the same initial situation: The document contains an ODS object. 2) The issue only arises, if the document with the embedded ODS object is saved to the appropriate MSOffice format, and if the conversion of OLE objects to MSO format is switched off (Tools->Options->Load/Save->MSOffice->Load/Save Excel/ Calc both switched off). -> It happens, if a Writer document with embedded ODS is written to DOC format. -> It happens, if a Calc document with embedded ODS is written to XLS format.
