------- Additional comments from fschu...@openoffice.org Wed Jan 6 11:55:27 +0000 2010 ------- Hallo, OOo 3.1.1.5 fails to start if user home is on a cifs mounted volume and if the samba server has version 3.4.2 (Samba 3.3.6 does not have this issue) and OOo 3.1.1.4 does not fail to start. I did an strace to track down the problem to a unlink/truncate call. I can provide a small c program to demonstrate the problem and the strace part thats demonstrates the problem. During startup (shortly after the splash screen appears, OOo creates a file .execoooXXXX in the users home, unlinks it and truncates it to 4096 bytes. The truncate call fails on openSUSE 11.1 / 11.2 if the home is on cifs mounted volume from samba server 3.4.2. While OOo 3.1.1.4 falls back to the tmp dir and creates the file there, OOo 3.1.1.5 does not fall back and fails to start. See the strace log and the small demonstration program. I hope this helps. I really appreciate your work. OOo for me is the best office program around.
