This feature has cost me a lot of hours and i really don't see how this is ever
going to help anyone. 

If someone types in a certain data format it should stay like that. Point.
The fancy thing you can do is to create the possibility to change it according
to your wishes an thus add it to the cell formatting.

Most obnoxious is that it is impossible to find what is causing this. it is nit
in autocorrection. it is not a field and there is nothing about a date format in
the menu or the help.

So please at least add this to the documentation and if the fancy stuff is not
working then switch it off by default because it is incomplete and undocumented.
