I used OO without problem for years.
Now I have installed on my PC the SMART Board Software; I'm a teacher and have a
SMART Board interactive at school, and it's useful for me to review and prepare
lessons.
Since then Open Office (everything: Writer, Calc ...) had problems: slowing and
slowing until freezing and collapsing.
Using Task Manager I found the soffice.bin process eats RAM more and more until
saturating the 2 G of RAM; the system then slows down until OO dies or freezes.

Now I have found the "SMART Board Service" has to do to this problem; I made
severale tests and ...

1. I started OO and again I had the RAM eating behaviour with related slowing.
Then I stopped the SMART board service and the RAM eating slowed down and ended
in a short time.
2. I then used OO for a while with very little RAM use and good speed. Then I
started the SMART service again: immediately the soffice.bin process started to
eat RAM at an unbelievable rate (about 3 M /sec).

Clearly there is a catastrophic interaction between Open Office and the SMART
Board service.

Hoping this would be useful.
