My final book file is really big. The problem is, with a big file in there OO shuts itself down. I've looked at this by monitoring the performance of my system. OO can go unresponsive for 10 minutes or more. If I am accessing one of my small files, such as a few lines out of a chapter, OO will not respond if it is paying attention to my large file. My final book files are really big, because they have a lot of HQ pictures in them. They can take 5 or 10 minutes to save. While that file is "autosaving" in the background OO shuts down. None of my other open OO files will work. You should switch things around such that things like autosave are only done if that file or "view" or "tab" is open at the time. If I am not looking at it, I don't care if it autosaves itself. I certainly don't want it to shut me down for 10 minutes. That being said, I love OO. For a writer, it is perfect.
