Word:Mac 2008 opens these files with no problem, and identifies them as "Word 97 - 2004 document". I am working on an automated document conversion to PDF system, and when the conversion queue hits one of these DOC files, the worker OpenOffice process hangs indefinitely and needs to be killed and restarted.
