It is a unclear situation for the end user. The saving bar is closed and OOo seems to be froozen. And if a user hits the "closing X" in the upper right corner again, the OS asks to terminate the program immediately. - I can confirm this also for writer (50MB). The real saving of the file happens after closing the saving bar.
