Microsoft provided a converter for its later programs to convert 6.0 to the newer format, but that converter is no longer available from Microsoft. I have un-converted Word 6.0 programs that I had hoped Open Office would be able to open properly converted, but Open Office as I have it treats the files as ASCII text files just as does my current Word 2003.
