>From the command line, I executed soffice -base. Program presented
Dabase Wizard step 1. Select database.

I selected connect to an existing database ... ODBC; clicked Next. Program
presented "Database Wizard" "Set up a connection to an ODBC database"

I selected Name of the ODBC data source on your system > Browse.
Program presented "Data Source" with 1 item.

I selected that item, v400y; clicked OK. Program returned to
"Database Wizard" step 2.

I clicked Next. Program presented "Database Wizard", "Set up the user
authentication"

(Hunh? I think I remember that the ODBC connection already includes
my credentials.) I leave user name blank and "password required"
unselected; clicked Next. Program "Database Wizard" "Decide how to proceed
after saving the database"

I chose "No, do not register the database", "Open the database for
editing"; clicked Finish. Program presented "Save as".

I accepted /home/terry/Documents and enter file name v400y (the only
file type is ODF Database); clicked Save. Program showed "New
Database.odb - OpenOffice.org Base [300m75(Build:9488)]" with three
included panels ...
  - Database: with icons Tables, Queries, Forms, Reports
  - Tasks: empty
  - blank: empty
Then the program presented "Debug Output" ...
