The current display of selected and focused items of the startcenter is a little
confusing. One item has the focus / is pre-selected by default. When you now
move the mouse to any other item, on mouse over the corrsponding button will be
highlited additional to the one which is selected currently. (see attached
screenshot as example)

PL, ANDBA and MD have reviewed this again. Philipp is going to do some changes
now to make the selection less intensive from UI point of view. The selected one
will not be in "button style" but in a style like all the others where the mouse
is not over. Additional a ligh border will be displayed. At the same time the
mouse over style will stay as it is.
