The column options refer to the ONE column, where the cursor currently is
placed in.
Also, when using the "optimal width" option, the new column width is referred to
the text of the cell where the cursor currently is placed. This gives the user
the freedom to select the desired reference width by himself.
You also have to select the whole table and apply "optimal width"; then the
Applicatin will look for the longest texts automatically.
