Some remarks:

If "Use printer metrics for text formatting" is not selected in the options
dialog, text wrap is different between normal view and preview/printing. The
exact details depend on things like printer resolution and fonts, so the example
will look different from the screenshot for other people. PDF export uses a
virtual device for text layout, not the selected printer.

Cells should never overlap each other, but that only means the correct behavior
is clipping the text. A quick solution to always see all text is not available.
