Since Mac OS X was lauched, Apple has declared PDF to be the "natural" format
for clipboard cut and paste
of vector graphics on the Mac, as a replacement for PICT.

Native Mac applications (like Mellel or Nissus), InDesign, and now, Word 2008,
understand PDF on the
clipboard, and paste the corresponding picture in their document.

It would greatly improve OpenOffice interoperability on the Mac if it would
support embedded PDF as a
paste format (and probably as a copy format too).
