Yes, this is really a big limitation that no vector format is supported 
bug-free.

Use Inkscape and MS Word. PDF, EPS and other vector formats can be opened in
Inkscape and copy&pasted as "Enhanced metafile" into MS Word. This works fine!

(It does not works with OOo Writer properly since its "Enhanced metafile"
support is very buggy.)
