It is evident that many users are satisfied with the current comportment, (not a enormous flood of complaints), so only adding an option seems appropriate. (However, if the proposal of the other issue is changed to *adding an option* ...) By the way, if the component is supposed to be "framework" instead of "spreadsheet", it hasn't been changed. Note that the "entering and modifying issues" guide gives no info on this.
