Here might be a misunderstanding. The current chart types like bar, area or line
do have a category x axis. The data points are drawn at an x position simply
given by their order and not at a numerical place indicated by a separate x 
value.
So if you would like to place bars on separate x  values you may want to vote
for issue 49971 (histogram) or issue 104749 (area with real x axis). Please
leave also a short note about your concrete wishes.
If you in contrast would like to see more scaling options for category axis
maybe issue 94919 (display every nth category only) is the one you are searching
for.
