I first tried the relationships in the local db and had the issue described,
then I tried it with a openoffice as the frontend and MySql as the backend and
had the same issue.
Then, I removed openoffice (one from mint repository) and installed the
openoffice I downloaded from the openoffice.org website, restarted computer,
then tried the db linked to MySql and had the same issue. I did not try the
local db again after installing the openoffice downloaded from openoffice.org.
I checked the local db just now after seeing your request for the local db
version and the relationships worked perfectly, however, the db connected to
MySql has the issue described already, still.

Thanks
