------- Additional comments from r...@openoffice.org Mon Jul 12 22:24:25 +0000 2010 ------- [ I still see it in (vanilla) m84 ] >From http://bugs.debian.org/588471: --- snip -- I'm start to use statistic in my school, my teacher said me my result are wrong I show him My result and surprise he confirm OpenOffice Wrong Result for the +exercice ! Ms Office works well, and manual resolution confirme Ms office result. look the array below 0 1 2 4 6 10 76 67 59 46 35 20 Insert diagramme based on that data Choose the lines one - 0, 1, 2, 4 on the bottom chart's - 0 to 80 on the left right-click on the shape to choose 'Inserez une coube de valeur moyenne' (Yes +it's the french version) (i don't know the english sentense) and check-in : - Afficher l'équation - Aficher le coeficient de détermination (R2) You'll see : - f(x)= -11,1142[...]+89,4 - R2=0.989 _BUT_ - f(x) sould be -5.5[....] + 71,80 - the shape does not cross the ordinate (Oy) at ~17,8 or 89,9 but +approximatively at 86 ! --- snip --- Cédric thankfully translated the french and added some comment. I can confirm this, too (use the first line): --- snip --- He meant, do the following steps: * Select all the data * Click "Insert > Chart" menu [...] * Select the "Line" chart type and keep the default options * Click "Next >>" [...] * Select "Data series in rows" [...] * Click "Insert trend line" in the context menu [...] * In the "Type" tab, check * "Show equation" * "Show correlation coefficient (R2)" [...] Oh, I have the trend line added and its equation and they fit what is in the bug report. However, I reproduced the very same procedure on Excel 2007 and I got the same results... I suspect that there is either something forgotten in the bug report or something done differently in Excel... --- snip --- --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
