------- Additional comments from s...@openoffice.org Tue Jul 13 14:27:27 +0000 2010 ------- The libxml2 dynamic library is part of the stable URE ABI (at least on Linux, Solaris, and Windows; see ure/source/README). On Solaris, changing from no symbol versioning to symbol versioning should be a compatible change; on Windows, the changes should have no effect, anyway. And on Linux the addition of the LIBXML2_GLOBAL_VARIABLES symbol versioning block appears to have no negative consequences on ABI compatibility, either: copying a plain DEV300_m84 libraptor.so.1 (which references __xmlGenericErrorContext) into a CWS solaris10u8 installation set and calling "ldd -r" on that library shows no problems. (Only a minor nit, <http://hg.services.openoffice.org/hg/cws/solaris10u8/rev/4aca101677ed> libxml2/libxml2-global-symbols.patch, LIBXML2_GLOBAL_VARIABLES: a smart thing to do is to use dots in version names (e.g., "LIBXML2_2.7.3") to avoid clashes with exported C/C++ symbols.) --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
