Second example seems to have common roots with first example in spreadsheet UI, and second example shows a more dangerous behaviour, I did not find any way to leave that situation except terminating OOo3 using task manager. The second problem can not be reproduced with 3.1.1 because there is no cell range selection pane in the validity dialog.
