------- Additional comments from fabh...@openoffice.org Thu Aug 12 09:12:36 +0000 2010 ------- Hi there, I'm testing OOo 3.3 Beta 1 (x86_64) on Ubuntu 10.04 x86_64. All Word files with extension .doc open as "read-only : Section 1". This also happens when I create a new text file and save it as "Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP". When I re-open it, the file opens as "read-only : Section 1". If I open a .doc file in OOo 3.3 Beta 1 (x86_64) and save it as .odt, the .odt file will then open as "read-only : Section 1". The only (temporary) workaround is to select Format > Sections and remove "Section 1". This is just a temporary workaround: if I save the document after having removed "Section 1", next time I re-open it, it's set to read-only mode again. If I open the very same .doc file with the Ubuntu GO-OO (version 3.2) it opens fine and can be edited (i.e. it is not set to read-only mode).
