I moved the file that I sent to another folder. I then opened it and closed it without alteration - and it did not crash writer! So the file itself does not seem to be the problem now. However, when I moved it back to its original location, opened it, and closed it without modification, it again crashed writer on exit. I, therefore, have attached the files from F:\Documents and Settings\Owner\Application Data\Openoffice.org\3\user\registry\data\org\openoffice\Office. I have in the past deleted the file called Recovery.xcu, which, after a Google search, seemed sensible. This seemed to help prevent the crashes. The original problem occurred when pasting without format.
