When the document is opened they show perfectly well, but after some time (see case descriptions) the "Read Error" appears. I could succesfully export the document to PDF (before the "Read Error" appeared) and the pictures were present in the PDF. I have also tested with the same document on a Mac (transferred via ssh) in NeoOffice and both documents showed perfectly in that setup.
