OO 3.2 Mac OSX version Find & Replace can search using regular expression, but
cannot replace identified with regular expressions (e.g. $, \t).

I have confirmed this behavior with Find & Replace in OO Writer and Calc.
Choosing "Find & Replace" from the "Edit" menu, then clicking "More options"
from the resulting dialog, you can turn on regular expression by selecting the
checkbox next to "Regular expressions."

If you enter regular expressions "$" or "\t" in the "Search for" field, this
will search for the proper characters (newline or tab) in the document.

However, if you enter those same regular expressions "$" or "\t" in the "Replace
with" field, it does not replace the searched string with the appropriate
characters (newline or tab). Rather, it replaces the characters with the
literal string of the regular expression ("$" or "\t").

I have discussed this with one other person on an OO forum who is using Windows
Vista / Windows 7 and he does not report having the same behavior, though you
may wish to verify this.
