The only way to select the fontwork object is to use selection tool from "Drawing" panel (by clicking on a selection tool and drawing a rectangle around the fontwork object) steps to reproduce are exactly the same as in the initial bug description. reproducible: always, but _only_ in WRITER. (calc, impress,draw works just fine) just tested on 3.2.1 for 32-bit linux downloaded from openoffice.org.
