1. Create an empty presentation.
2. Choose the "Centered Text" layout.
3. Click the box and type into it:

    a||b

where || is a symbol with code U+2551 which is inserted via the
"Insert -> Special Character ..." menu.
4. Mark everything and set its font to "Courier 10 Pitch".
5. Click outside the box two separate times to unmark the box.
6. Press F5 for Slide Show. Observe that the output is

   a||`

The same happens when many other fonts are chosen, say, Century
Schoolbook L or URW Bookman L.
