I will be working with the file, editing text, and I'll get the "Read Error" message and some significant portion of my images will disappear. If I subsequently save the file, the file on disk is much, much smaller and many images are simply missing. I've seen this in the OO 3.2.1 download for Mac OS X on Intel as well as the OO 3.3.0RC5 on Linux using native downloads from openoffice.org. I'm attaching one that contains 23 PNG files.
