Fixing the crash is easy - actually, I did so in CWS dba34c.

The interesting part, and what this issue is originally about, is the
non-closing of the connection, when using the MySQL connector. I adjust the
summary to reflect this more clearly, and put the issue back into the pool for
confirmation (sorry, don't have the chance myself, at the moment, to look deeper
into this).
