kubuntu does not ship an openoffice.org build, it ships a ooo-build which is
different. For reasons I do not understand they include features that are still
work in progress. They added the embed media feature I'm still working on and
which of course contains bugs.
Please report this issue to ubuntu or install a build downloaded from
openoffice.org.
PS: The files you created with your version are broken, so if you try
OpenOffice.org you need to insert your media files again.
