Steps to reproduce

rm -rf ~/.openoffice.org
/opt/openoffice.org3/program/soffice.bin -nofirststartwizard

OO will startup, but then immediately die (with no error messages). Note if you
immediately restart OO with the same arguments (and DO NOT remove the
preferences), OO will start. This behaviour is a regression on prior versions of
OO.

This is an important bug when using OO within a process farm, as the user
preferences directory is dynamically assigned (via -env:UserInstallation) at
start up and might not have any preference information.
