------- Additional comments from [EMAIL PROTECTED] Wed May 4 18:13:28 -0700 2005 ------- 1. This all has been short and simple enough to be concise, but long and complete enough to be accurate. Your example only covers a single session table creation with an autovalue field, and editing it to off. My description covers the issue in single and multiple sessions, editing the value on or off, and autovalue field insertion after tabel creation. All related to the one issue of GUI editing an autovalue field. 2. Only one issue has been reported here. I have also given you the cause and solution - a lack of function in HSQL and its addition in the next 1.8.0 RC. I have also given you one question and one observation directly related to this issue to help clarify the issue context. 3. Issues must be dealt with in the context of the intended use and evolution of the product. This enables us to decide on priority and what kind of solution is called for. Questions and observations that can affect how an issue is dealt with are always welcome in an issue thread. They may also spin off other related or subsequent issues. The question about a user being able to update the HSQL version OOo uses directly affects how this issue is handled. If users must only use the HSQL compiled in, and the 1.8.0 release is too late to use, then this function can not be fixed and support for it in HSQL must be at least grayed out. Future OOo compilations that use HSQL 1.8.0 can then re-enable it. If users can update which HSQL version OOo uses, then all we need is proper error handling when this function is missing. So, if you use HSQL previous to 1.8.0, you get an error return and dialog when you try to edit or insert an autovalue field in an existing table. Discussion about the applicability of HSQL in OOo can give us some idea if this issue should spin off other related issues, like other field attributes that cannot be edited. I've already asked on the HSQL forum is there are others. Now, since I've done almost all of the work for you, this might be short and simple enough for you to handle. thx for your support --------------------------------------------------------------------- Please do not reply to this automatically generated notification from Issue Tracker.
