In my opinion, this is an important issue, because the problems also happen if the animations are in a PPT file. I exported the attachment startrail_eng.sxi to ppt format using OOo 1.1.4, and the resulting file is shown very differently in PPoint and OOo 1.9.100. I include the ppt attachment. This issue seems related to issue 48167. I think these animation problems could make people decide not to move from MS Office to OOo.
