thanks for the quick reply.
I see you closed my issue as 'WORKSFORME'. AAMOF it worked for me too, so this
was not the point!
I had come to know that, as you say, <A named range cannot be absolute or
relative.> although I didn't consider this sentence as 'universal': it's
certainly true for OOo-Calc and this is exactly why I was asking whether it
would be possible (i.e. not too distructive for the present inner Calc
structure) to change that peculiarity.

In an attempt to give a deeper meening to your suggestions ("So change the
definition of your name. For example, change $Sheet1.$B$5 to B5.") I referred my
named range 'rnb5' simply to B5; however, using that name in a formula, such as
(in C5) =A5*rnb5 I get err522. Of course, I get the correct value using instead:
=A5*B5, but this is not what I wanted to achieve.
