Hi Cloph,

thanks for your answer. Although I don't like wasting other people's time I'm
re-opening the issue just for OOo's qa sake.

AAMOF, your conclusion:
"... You did not use the right value for the typographic
quotes. (and my assumtion from issue 35210 was right.
Closing issue as OOo cannot find what's not in the file."
appears to be inaccurate particularly concerning the "...cannot find what's not
in the file." assumption.
Please take the time to make this little exercise:
In a brand new spreadsheet type the < ' > (i.e. \x0027 char) in cells A1 and A2;
then edit cell A2 and add a number to the pre-existing < ' >. The number you
enter will appear left aligned in the cell, but you will no longer be able to
see the < ' > unless you edit again the cell (it doesn't appear to be there, but
it is there!). And this is not the whole story...
Now try the find and replace for \x0027 (or copy the < ' > from cell A1 and
paste it in the f&r window: only cell A1 will be found!
My explanation is that the " ' " is not considered as an ordinary char but as a
symbol to left align cell content.
The same applies to the < " >. Things appear much clearer with a 200%
magnification of these characters.
Thanks for your attention.
Regards,
        Ennio.
