The problem was that OO used all the RAM and virtual memory when trying to do
the mail merge, and thus the process would never finish.

It was a full sheet of labels.
It had Name, title, company, address, town, state, and zip fields.

The dialog for telling me how far it got -says- 408 documents, but that's a lie.
When it gets to however many it has determined are needed, that's when the
process is finished. It ended up being something like 14, but the chances of
getting to 14 were very slim. If I tried to edit the labels at all before doing
the merge process, it would run out of memory and not finish.
