I believe the correct way to do this would be to create a special numbering that would put 'Appendix' before the title (easily done). However, the problem is that when you apply a numbering style to a title style, you loose the bookmark ability (you can't see it anymore in the navigator and pdf). There should be a mean to keep this ability to have bookmarks for numbering or for a paragraph style, however i did not find any way to do this. The only thing that work is the 'numbering: outline', that you have by default for titles, but that you can't select yourself. This numbering is related to the Tools->Outline numbering. I hope I made myself clear.
