Pls. make sure you have enabled CJK Support and selected an appropriate document Language in the following menu: Tools/Options/Language Settings/Languages: Enable CJK Support and select a default asian language for documents Additionally pls. enable vertical writing: Format/Page: TabPage: "Page": Textdirection: "Right-to-Left (vertical)" Pls. comment whether this solves your problem.
