1) yes, the context menu behavior has changed fron 1.x to 2.0.
See:http://specs.openoffice.org/ui_in_general/menus/Context4ContextMenus.sxw

Because it's a *context* menu, the selection must be removed when clickng
somewhere else.

2) currently, we have an issue 49144 affecting the right click on the last
character of a selection.

3) the present issue does not concern to right to left or left to right
selection but where exactly the click is done.

a) selction untill (or from) left margin + right click in left margin at the
height of the selected line = no deselection = bug

b) selction untill (or from) left margin + right click in left margin NOT at the
height of the selected line = deselection = OK

c) selction untill (or from) right margin + right click in right margin =
deselection = OK

d) selection not reaching any margin + right click anywhere else than in the
selection = deselection = OK

Only a) is a bug but due to the very special case it referes to (click in left
margin at exact height of selection) I don't consider it worth of fixing
(balance effort/gain).

Thus closing. Resolution could be "INVALID" (works as designed) for 1),
DUPLICATE for 2) or WONTFIX for 3). Choosing WONTFIX.
