OpenOffice.org Base (680m100) has difficulties dealing with separate files that
use identical names. I created a database file (native HSQLDB) and created a
table within that file. To duplicate the table structure in a similar file, I
created a copy in Windows Explorer and placed it in a different folder. I
repeated this process until I had four identical files, each in their own
respective folders.

Next, I entered records into the tables using a form. Each file had a different
set of records. Later, Iwanted to differentiate between files to reduce
confusion. Upon renaming the files in Windows Explorer, the tables and data
disappeared while the form remained. I thought I had lost everything and would
have to start over, when I decided to rename the files back to their original
names. Upon opening the files, the tables and data returned intact. This
problem is repeatable, as I tried three times to change the file names, and
recovered the data when reverting back to the original file names.

Through trial and error, I have since learned that files can be renamed using
the Save As function from within Base.

Another problem that cropped up when using files with identical names but
different data is that when opening a second file, Base assumes that the first
is being opened and the data has become corrupt. Base tries to solve the
problem using the File Recovery module. Fortunately, this doesn't seem to
effect the files negatively in any way.

Does Base associate file names with expected data?
