not sure weather defect or feature?

issue goto menu -> insert -> section
popup "insert section" -> columns
select 2 columns
un-check "Evenly distribute contents to all columns" -> ok

Their is no way to access the second column

the only way is to menu -> format ->column
check "Evenly distribute contents to all columns"
now content can be maded to appear in 2nd columns

repeat process and un-check "Evenly distribute contents to all columns"
and all text in second column is moved intothe first column

I believe this was a feature in earlier versions as the ability to access both
columns with "Evenly distribute contents to all columns" un-check
was outlined by Mike Angelo -- 25 November 2003 (C)in his article
