I think everybody agrees that a user-interface should be predictable. However
if
you select Sort in Calc - without having marked a range beforehand - Calc
chooses some seemingly random range to sort. I haven't figured out , and I
don't
think the user should every need to worry about such things. Instead when you
haven't marked any range, Calc should of course (like Excel) mark All
rows/cells
automatically.

This will make "Sort" work predictably every time you use it without a range
allowing for easier creation of work habits (when a program changes behaviour
each time you choose a function your habits will sometimes turn on you unless
you spend extra time looking into the changed behaviour but a user interface
should of course never require the user to spend time figuring out a seemlingly
random behaviour).

Cheers
