Impress uses a variety of ill-defined terms to refer to preset elements of a
slide or presentation. Among the terms are

slide design
slide layout
presentation background
master page
slide master
template

These need to be defined and used consistently throughout the program and
documentation. What does each one mean? What elements does it include? How is it
stored? How does it relate to the other terms?

For example, the wizard to open Impress says "Select a slide design", and then
gives a list of "Presentation Backgrounds." Are they the same or different?

This is a most confusing and frustrating part of Impress.
